Our Mission

Residents in the community of Madison, Florida continue to face challenges in academic performance, job readiness and the quality of life. Data show that a worrisome sign in the education for the community indicates that a larger number of schools in the district rate below average in school quality.

Within the past 10 years, some residents assert the lack of investment in community, vocational training and youth programs, underutilization of pooling current resources to spar economic growth, and an impaired vision to inspire hope among families, schools and community represents the core problems that currently challenges this community.

The solution? The Madison County Recreation Association, Inc. created Restoration 2022. Restoration 2022 serves as a viable project to transform the local community into a revitalized and striving community that makes a lasting educational impact on the quality of life of its residents. This project considers renovating the old Suwanee River Junior College and Madison County Training School to become a new vocational hub. As a historic site, this solution affords the opportunity:

• To offer a wholistic curriculum in helping residents to obtain trades, develop skills and job readiness

• To create Job Corps in assisting residents to seek employment

• To develop a campus that caters to a range of community needs

• To provide the community access to technological accommodations

• To provide conducive learning spaces that are flexible and take advantage of natural light

• To provide communal spaces to promote interaction and inclusiveness

• To provide comfortable outdoor spaces for specific functions as well as leisure

• To construct a museum to showcase and highlight the historic significance of the site

• To apply sustainable features such as materiality and green roofs
